I’m really annoyed. They are going to be spiteful now and ruin it for everyone. I was planning to put a bed in my garden shed and claim it as my main residence.

They are keen to tell us, they are keen to clean up the system. They will tell us anything to avoid justice being done, to go from the expenses gravy train to a prison cell has focussed them on the consequences of being caught fiddling and they do not like it!
A complex and arduous formula will be adopted so the fiddling will continue.

The idea of MPs cleaning up the expenses system makes me laugh out so loudly my ribs hurt constantly!
I’ve just sent the Fees Office 5 years worth of gas, electric, water, rent, council tax, all household shopping bills, travel expenses, underground bunker, geese shed, moat, a bird island, car tax, insurance tax, personal tax and National Insurance contributions and am waiting for a cheque amounting to around £45,000.
So,no,I don’t want the expenses system cleaned up cos I ain’t yet got my pig snout in the trough!

…Inevitably yes it will, but its done a lot of damage! What an utter pee take, I’m not going to list all the claims i know of as you’ve already heard in the media, but some of these people showed themselves for what the really are, corrupt! Is there any wonder the benefits system is in such a state – it would be hypocracy for a expenses cheat to judge all the benefit cheats wouldnt it – one in the same if you ask me (thats just irony, i dont think its the reason really)
Again the only person losing out is the decent honest working man! You could be forgiven for questionning the point of being honest and law abiding but it stops there for most of us. We carry on with the knowledge that nothing will happen, everything will be forgotten and we will again be taken for mugs.
Hey ho! Vote for someone different – but who do you vote for -they’re all at it! Dont vote and you cant make a statement…

Yes, they are keen on doing it now, in a desperate attempt to save face.
My local paper has been full of puff stories from MPs saying how sorry they are. They are only sorry they got caught! I don’t remember any calls to reform the system BEFORE this scandal broke.
Also, all three main parties and UKIP have been caught with their fingers in the till. However, there is a genuine alternative for voters in the European elections, with candidates that will not enrich themselves at our expense and will stand up for ordinary people. Mercia don’t vote Labour – they are not in jail because our prisons can only hold around 75,000 inmates. You don’t think all this scamming is limited to MPs do you? What about the bankers and tycoons who have ripped off pension funds? The property speculators who have influenced Government to grant only short term tenancies? Power certainly does corrupt and unfortunately our Parliament has not been in the business of uncovering that corruption. Instead it has been in the business of feathering their own nests whilst accepting that corruption. Parliament no longer works. The whip system is designed to make slaves out of MPs. No single MP seems to feel they are a servant of the people; rather they consider themselves a lackey to the whips.
Frankly the expenses system was put in place to ensure that we were not limited to having MPs who could afford second homes in London. What has happened is that we have very few ‘financially poor’ MPs.
My own MP is quite capable of affording both his homes – buying them outright. So he would be a mug to have a mortgage … unless …. as the eighth richest MP in the House of Commons he has worked out that getting the tax payer to pay the interest on his mortgage means he virtually gets an interest free loan at the tax payers expense.
Frankly the MPs who have been caught out were the ones who were less intelligent at milking the system than my own MP was. Vote independent next time – none of the above and no party should receive our votes.
They want to publically sound like they’re against the parasitic system they’ve been capitalizing off, just because it’s now out in the open and very unpopular.
They’ve done the worst thing that politicans can do- betray the people who they supposedly represent- defrauding us out large chunks of our tax money for personal benefit.
It’s rare that I agree with Communist China’s governments policies, but there is one policy of theirs I agree with and think we should implement ASAP- death penalty for corruption!
I will pay it back, it was an oversight , I did nothing wrong, it was inside the rules , what rules,?whose rules? OK lets all go to tesco’s, morrison’s or any other store and pick up a bag of crisps and just walk out without paying what will the law enforcers do ? yes nick you well get off your fat a— mr policeman and nick those MPs, government ministers who claimed their mortgage even after it was paid off and all the other fraudulent claims that they are squealing about , it is time for payback (IN COURT)
I am SO fed up of hearing David Cameron mention his ’scrutiny panel’, he gets that in everywhere he can.
And they’re just fronting, and whilst chastising Hazel Blears, Gordon Brown is apparently not going to do anything about the big-players, it’s only the lesser-known ones that are being forced to resign or stand down.
Get rid of the lot I say.
If they stand down now rather than get kicked out they can get a hefty payout methinks. There should be a general election now so that we can decide who goes and who stays.

They are not half as keen on cleaning things up as they are on continuing to milk the system/us.
